This 1980s kitchen within a Victorian era home in San Francisco Dolores Heights was reimagined as a sleek, light-filled hub for a modern family of four, balancing high-contrast minimalism with organic warmth. The design centers around a large existing window to the west, which floods the space with golden afternoon light and serves as the anchor for a restrained palette of white gloss cabinetry and dramatic black marble.
To enhance the home’s flow, we introduced a new window to the dining and den areas at the back of the house, and installed custom wood floating shelves with hidden hardware for a seamless, architectural finish. This blend of simple textures—from matte black fixtures to a narrow solid-timber island—elevates the original footprint into a sophisticated, highly functional sanctuary. The clients picked a yellow fireclay tile for the bathroom, creating a modern fun guest bathroom, carving out an extra space for the guest closet.
